Each generation tends to have their own particular tastes and this in decoration determines that each one is decant by a decorative style. Modsy, a design platform that allows you to do 3D tests to decorate your home, conducted a study on the preferences of decorative styles by age range. Specifically it was its Director of Style, Alessandra Wood, the person in charge of the same one.
No wonder the result they got as decoration is a personal choice. And as such it depends on our personality and the cultural load we carry. The people of each generation usually share certain experiences that logically make their tastes coincide to some extent. Let's look at three generational examples and the styles they like most in each of these generations.
Known as Millennials are the generation of people born between 1981 and 1995. As noted in this study prefer mostly the style of the mid-twentieth century. One explanation is that they are a generation of urbanites who opt for simple but elegant furniture. Furniture that look great in lofts and open spaces that are the spaces preferred by millennials.
The generation of those born between 1946 and 1964 is known as the"Baby Boom". They are people who usually live with preference in houses near the countryside and therefore prefer the rustic styles. "Stylistically these homes have a more traditional feel and a lot more space, creating a perfect backdrop for classic furniture,"says the study's author.
Interestingly the generation Z, those born between 1994 and 2010, coincides in their preference for the rustic style with the baby boomers. It is not so rare, by age they can be children of these and therefore they have been raised in the environment decorated by their parents. "We're seeing a resurgence in the popularity of classic styles, but in layers, with an informal twist,"says Wood.
